Accountability at IPPF: What does it look like?

What should the Secretariat be accountable for? Help us define the scope of the new Secretariat Accountability Mechanism!

IPPF is in the process of establishing a mechanism to assess the performance and accountability of the Secretariat against IPPF Strategy and approved Secretariat priorities as outlined in the Business Plan. We call this the Secretariat Accountability Mechanism (SAM).

This work is framed in the context of improving the Secretariat performance, transparency and accountability towards IPPF Member Associations and Collaborative Partners through the adoption of in-depth and regular reviews of Secretariat aimed to assess Secretariat relevance, performance and effectiveness against key operational, programmatic, external relations, learning and management areas.

In order to design the SAM, the Secretariat formed a Task Force which includes MAs from all the six regions in which IPPF operates. With a view to adopting an even more MA-centered approach, the Secretariat is seeking inputs and feedback from as many MAs as possible.

At the current stage, the Secretariat would like to invite MAs to contribute to defining the scope of the SAM in terms of areas of accountability that the SAM will cover. Areas listed in this document will be taken into consideration for inclusion in the SAM. Consequently, once the SAM is operationalized, MAs will be able to hold the Secretariat accountable with regards to how effectively the Secretariat has been in serving the needs of MAs in each of these areas.

If you would like to provide feedback, please review the Scope of the SAM, then fill out this form by August 2nd to let the Task Force know if you are satisfied with the areas listed in the document and if you would like to add new areas or improve existing ones.
