We are witnessing a rising tide of extremist, populist anti-gender movements globally. Human rights are under threat and the SRHR community has to be more effective than ever to protect them.

To build and cement broad public support for SRHR, IPPF has established a global Movement Accelerator Platform. The platform comprises three cross-Federation centres of expertise with a focus on developing winning narratives, countering the opposition and supporting social movements. The model combines the expertise of the IPPF Secretariat and Member Associations to drive progressive change through research, innovation, learning, which supports contextualised local responses.

To ensure these approaches can be widely shared across our network, we are excited to launch the Movement Accelerator Digital Platform. The digital platform is an exciting new space for you to access e-learning, videos, case studies, blogs and much more to help SRHR advocates in this gigantic effort.

You can sign up for an account and log in on https://movementaccelerator.org/. We will activate your account and get back to you within the same day so you can begin to explore our platform. You can also share the platform with other MAs and close partners – just drop us a line on Support_MovementAccelerator@ippf.org beforehand so we know they are no security threat.

On the platform, you can find resources such as:

  • How to counter our opposition
E.g. Take a look at our Opposition Curriculum, a learning tool which gathers methodology to analyse and approach opposition.
  • How to integrate winning narratives in your communications
E.g. Explore our e-learning course on Winning Narratives designed especially for our movement.
  • How to build successfulsocial movements
E.g. Check out the case study of a social movement fighting for an enabling environment and equal rights for LGBTQIA+ people in Lesotho.

If you have any difficulties, you can contact ebowa@ippfaro.org

Featured content: Winning Narratives E-Learning Course

Available at launch, the winning narratives e-learning course has been designed to answer the everyday questions that our partners in the movement ask most often:

  • What do all these terms like ‘narrative’, ‘framing’, or ‘strategic communications’ mean?
  • What steps do I need to take if I’m starting a project working on narratives?
  • What does a project plan, or a focus group script, or a messaging brainstorm slidedeck actually look like? Can I just download and copy a template to help me get started?

This course includes specific examples from our colleagues in the movement, beautiful illustrations, and concise summaries of the best external resources available, so you do not have to read an 80-page PDF to get to the relevant parts.

You do not have to watch long videos or answer beginner-level quizzes to move through the course, you can skim through the ‘introduction’ and ‘strategy’ lessons in less than 20 minutes if you just want to feel a bit more comfortable with the important concepts of SRHR winning narratives. Or you can navigate directly to a specific section if you are, for example, working on messaging testing right now and you want a template of a video test form.
