Restricted donor funding represents the majority of the Federation’s income. It is the backbone of our operations.

The Secretariat continually monitors the donor landscape for MA funding opportunities. In the table below are the current opporunities identified for your convenience.

FP2030 Partnership Fund Apply FP2030 FP2030 will issue a series of competitive “Challenges” between January 2024 and June 2025, inviting civil society organizations (CSOs), including youth-led organizations, entrepreneurs, feminist organizations, and other non-traditional actors to apply to receive small grants in order to implement locally-led innovations to solve a wide range of key problems facing the family planning movement and services.  Check the FP2030 website for details and updates.  Only civil society organizations from the Global South are eligible to apply. Your organization must be located in, and implementing a project in one of the Challenge’s eligible countries. FP2030 Partnership Fund - Challenge 1 Apply FP2030 FP2030 will issue a series of competitive “Challenges” between January 2024 and June 2025. The objective of this Challenge is to provide catalytic small grants to civil society organizations, youth-led groups, faith-based organizations and non-traditional actors in nine countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Expected outcome is to enhance budgetary allocations for family planning, so that countries are increasingly able to sustainably finance their family planning work and transparently track their expenditures, in line with their financial commitments to FP2030. Local civil society organizations, with a focus on youth-led organizations and non-traditional actors. Must be located in, and implementing a project in one of the Challenge’s eligible countries. Up to USD $60,000. 12 months. Cameroun, Central African Republic, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Togo and Zimbabwe. February 11 2024
Amplify Change Strengthening Grant Apply Amplify Change Strengthening Grants support advocacy work for small to medium civil society organisations that seek to bring about change in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Up to 40% of a Strengthening Grant can be used to support the costs of organisational development and boosting organisational effectiveness. Must be a small to medium sized organisation with an average annual expenditure over the past two years between GBP 250,000 and GBP 500,000 per year. 2-3 years. Innovation Funding by FID Apply Fund for Innovation in Development, French Government FID supports innovation in the fight against poverty and inequality. The Fund offers flexible financing via staged grants for emerging or growing innovations to test new ideas, experiment and demonstrate what works on the basis of proven scientific evaluation approaches, and scale the most effective solutions with the most positive and lasting impact. FID will accept applications for innovations in any sector, but encourages applications for innovations in education, health, climate change, and gender equality; and innovations targeting particularly acute problems of marginalized populations. Eligible: most types of organisations including NGOs, research institutions, governments, companies. Open to applications from all around the world, that propose work in any low- and middle-income country. Different stages of funding ranging from EUR 50k to 4m. Low- and middle-income countries globally. Open call - applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year
L’Oreal Fund for Women Apply L’Oreal L’Oreal has launched a EUR 50m charitable endowment fund to support on the ground organizations and local charities in their efforts to:
  • Help women out of poverty
  • Help women achieve social and professional integration
  • Provide emergency assistance to refugee women
  • Provide emergency assistance to disabled women
  • Prevent domestic/sexual violence against women and support survivors
  • Overcome obstacles to women and girls’ access to education
Local charities and on the ground organizations working to support highly vulnerable women. Grant size not specified, but donation requests under EUR 5,000 are not eligible Global Open on a rolling basis until 2026
The DMPA SC Regulatory Advocacy Catalytic Opportunity Fund (COF) Apply Pool of funds administered by Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Catalytic opportunity fund to support advocacy to advance DMPA-SC in Africa. Three streams:
  • DMPA-SC scale-up
  • DMPA-SC regulatory advocacy
  • Hormonal IUS scale-up
Catalytic opportunities are defined as high-impact and short-term activities, and applicants will need to demonstrate that alternative funding is not available for the proposed activities. USD $150-250,000Duration: 6 months Africa Rolling basis
Medical Abortion Combipacks Scale-Up Catalytic Opportunity Fund (COF) Apply Pool of funds supported by Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition The MA Combipacks Scale-Up COF is a pool of funds managed by the MA Combipack Market Shaping Group and supported by the RHSC Safe Abortion Supplies Workstream. The goal is to provide funding for government-led, catalytic activities that drive quality-assured (i.e. WHO PQ or SRA) MA combipack introduction, integration and/or scale-up, in low and lower middle income countries. Funds may only be granted to NGOs; however, government agencies can and are encouraged to be involved in implementation. All proposals must provide evidence of endorsement by relevant government authorities. Maximum USD $250,000 Global: low or lower middle income countries Rolling basis
Canada Fund for Local Initiatives Apply Global Affairs Canada (via relevant Canadian Embassy or High Commission) The CFLI provides modest funding for small-scale, high-impact projects in more than 120 countries eligible for official development assistance (ODA). Projects are planned and implemented mainly by local organizations, and are selected and approved by the relevant Canadian Embassy or High Commission. CFLI projects focus on issues such as:
  • gender equality and empowerment of women and girls
  • human rights
  • democracy and governance
  • peace and security
  • climate action
  • economic growth
The CFLI also provides modest financing for projects in response to natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies

UHAI EASHRI East Africa Grants for Sex Workers and Gender Minorities Apply UHAI EASHRI (East African Sexual Health & Rights Initiative) A flexible fund that resources organising by sexual and gender minorities and sex workers. They also consider requests from organisations that demonstrate meaningful community engagement. Prioritise funding to civil society organisations led and managed by sex workers and sexual and gender minorities. Also consider requests from mainstream organisations that demonstrate meaningful engagement of our communities in decision-making, and whose programmes have a direct, large-scale impact on our movements. Range of grant sizes up to USD $60,000 Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda Rolling basis
